Objectives
The client was looking for an inspiring and effective tool to help managers realize:
- How to achieve excellent results in an uncertain environment
- The importance of flexibility and speed in adapting to change
- The role of planning, time management, and strategic thinking in achieving success
- What it means in practice to turn activity into productivity
The client did not want a traditional training workshop, as employees had already participated in many training sessions and expected something more innovative and inspiring, while being fully engaging. The goal was for them to experience the consequences of their own decisions in a demanding environment and feel the emotions associated with pressures similar to those they face in their daily work. Due to time pressures the client opted for a relatively short event (up to 4 hours).

The game required participants to acquire and properly interpret information, jointly plan and devise strategies, as well as analyze risks and make smart decisions working in a volatile environment, marked by dynamic changes, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.
Results
The game met all the objectives set for it and even exceeded expectations. When asked “What did this game make you realize? How did it inspire you? What are your takeaways?”, participants responded:
- “Huge importance of preparation, strategy, planning!
- Planning and collaboration, deciding on strategy, a steadfast focus on the goals and outcomes
- Need to take more risk, to acquire information quickly, psychology of the black hole (i.e., imaginary threats that are not confirmed)
- In difficult situations, the true nature of our team members emerged – unity in purpose, fighting spirit, persistence
- Strategy is vital
- Team strength – decisions are made by 1 person but after consultations with the entire team. Sometimes we underestimate the importance of information, we could have planned and played this differently.
